Hi,
Can someone give me ideas for 4*4 beach
camping locations within travelling distance of
Sydney? I'm thinking weekend trips but longer trip suggestions would be welcome too.
Have a roof top tent so not too picky about ground conditions etc, just need somewhere to
park.

Stockton is always a good bet. Close enough but also far enough away from everything. You might also look at
the beach up toward Hawks Nest, but I am not on whether a NPWS
camping permit is requited or if
camping is allowed at all.

steve... stocko is definately the go. there is
places near hawks nest.. but you can get into a bit of trouble with permits etc..stocko only requires standard beach permit (get them at the servo at Anna Bay -almost opposit the
beach access point) and as long as we are all good kids and keep picking up our rubbish when
camping on
the beach.. council etc will continue letting 4x4'ers
camp there>!
don;t know of any between Newy and
sydney... there is alos
places further up the coast.. but you'd be on the sand within 2/1/2 huors from
sydney so yo can't go wrong!l let me know if yo need any more info!>

Thanks for that.
Stockton's penciled in for a months time,
Green Patch at Jervis bay is the next on the list for the comming weekend.
Know it's not right on
the beach but promises to be good.

Green Patch is a lovely place, but it's
camping in a
camp site with facilities.
If you're going as far as Jervis, then what about Myall Lakes up north? That's
camping RIGHT on the
water. Not beach though, it's
lake.
Cheers.

Thanks for that I'll add Myall Lakes to the list.
Anyone think of choice spots in the Blue Mountains?

Hows it going Steve,
You might like to have a look around the Seal Rocks area. There is the Trechery
Camp ,
bush campground with showerblocks ,futher down the coast was a NP
camping area but it may be closed. You can drive on most of the beachs and they usually provide excellent fishing and surfing. If you have a bit of a look about there are some opportunities for free
bush camping.
Hope this helps
Glenn.

Hi Steve,
Glenn is right on the money with Seal Rocks. A fantastic place but 4 hours drive from
Sydney. Treachery
Camp closes the gates at 9pm so there can be a bit of pressure to get there on a Friday but a few K's further down the dirt road are NP
camp sites. All have
beach access.
