G'day everyone,

Been busy getting organised for our Kimberley trip in July. We leave 15 July from Brisbane to Darwin and plan to be on the road for 3 months. Our focus is as much time in the Kimberley as we can (fishing where ever there is water). Our destinations are pretty well sorted just not the timing, want to be as flexible as possible.

We are travelling in a small group but my question is, will anyone else be there around Aug/Sept? Would like to catch up with any formites along the way just to say hi.

Kind regards

There is a good chance I will be up that way as I do a trip North every year but as to when I wouldn't know as yet so it would be hard for me to give exact details but maybe you could do another post nearer the tome.Idon't know if you have been in that area before but remember that Broome is usually fully booked in June ,July ,August so try to get in early. Also do not be dissapointed with the fishing at that time as the fresh water fishing drops right off but I am sure you will get a feed if you persist.
Good luck and safe travel.

G'day Rambler,

Thanks and hope to catch you there. We won't be able to book for Broome because we're unable to determine an exact time. Planning to travel from the north and hope to get there mid Sept - any chance that the crowd has dwindled by then?

I guess this does leave us a little vunerable as far as Broome is concerned. We plan to go beach camping at Quondong or before as a back up.

We are never dissapointed fishing (because we are out there away from work) . You're pretty well spot on we are persistent when fishing but its more about the competitive rivalry and fun within the group, there is all sort of honours to be won this trip.

Kind regards

Michael,

You are right with the dates but there might be a second trip about 4 days later.

G'day Wayne,

Hope to catch you there. Which way are you travelling on the GRR? I would imagine that we would be in the northern section of it around that time.

Kind regards

If you get to Broome in mid Sept. that would be ideal as you will get into the c.parks without booking. My choice would be Cable Beach C.Park(the older grassed section) or RoebuckBay C.Park.As far as camping at Quondong goes, it is a lovely spot on the coast with good fishing--watch the tides! but although only just over an hour drive to Broome you should not plan to be running in and out to Broome as it will give you the sh----ts with the corrugations.
Enjoy and if there is anything else let me know as I know that area fairly well.
