Hi all
Just loaded a copy of Discover Aus on my computer and notice not all tracks are shown, for instance it doesn't show all Gibb River Rd only part of it and too many others to mention here.
Is their a new version or am I doing something wrong?
Cheers Poppy

Poppy as Pat says it is there at Gibb River Road, Gibb River- Kalumbaru Road, and Gib River - Kalumbaru Road Number 66 for an offshoot. Have seen that the Tanami is not shown at all enlargements in WA. Reckon some guys sent it to dust. I have Vers 1.00

DiscoverAus 2 is being released soon. No exact date but supposed to be during the first half of this year.

mine is b too now I look for clarification.

Ray, I wonder what Vers 2 may be different. At least the Streets and Tracks doesn't have Cairns inland from Brisbane like the early basemap.

Hi John, The update will include new POI’s, updated maps and Topographic information (contours at 20m intervals). No information on pricing yet but an upgrade price will be offered to existing DiscoverAus owners.

Probably best to wait till the comments from users surface

Poppy,
I have found that you need the Great Desert Tracks mapping to get any decent detail of many inland tracks.

Cheers,
Stu

In actual fact there a more "desert" tracks shown on the DAST CD than the GDT CD. The claim to fame of the GDT CD is that tracks shown actually exist and some (read "some") of those shown have had their position verified by Hema field work.

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Greg

Thanks for that reference. You've just stopped me from looking for an alternative to DiscoverAus.

Firmware v5.40 already allows the Meridian to use turn by turn guides - even older ones.
But what we don't have yet is an equivalent product to "DirectRoute North America" (which I have). That is, it's the detail maps that actual contain the data you want.
Let's hope that v2 of DAST is actually "DirectRoute Australia".

By the way, it may not be instantly apparent, but "StreetRoutes" as Mapsend call them are created on the fly - you cannot store them. You can only store Waypoint routes. You can convert StreetRoutes into Waypoint routes, but not the other way around.
So when on the road, you can generate a turn guide (StreetRoute) from point A to Point B, or from "waredafugawi" to point B. What you cannot do is plot and store turn directions from Melbourne to Geelong via Sydney, Cairns, Broome and Perth - it will just take you straight down the highway from M to G
