Sadly for these marque's late models, esp Hilux, only stock are from dealers. Extended test-drive if via email list if you're lucky.

Major rental places do X-Trails, Challengers, RAV4s, Landcruisers and Patrols. Late models, but none that you're looking for.

Try to find one that is a crap color.

After it's been on their lot for 90 days they start paying $ % on it.

At that stage they could be a little more lax with the test drive.

Especially if they think THEY are talking YOU into something.

The last day of the Quarter and the last day of the Financial year are the best days for DEALS, so try to purchase then.

OR...

Write a cheque and plonk it on the Dealership Owners Desk. Tell him if the car's as good as they say you'll be back after a 2 day test drive to sign the contract. But don't be too cocky cause they are all in bed together. They talk.

OR...

Talk to the Manafacturer directly. Sometimes they can arrange things for you.

OR...

Try to find a new/second hand private sale. Someone selling this years model vehicle and asking waayyy too much for it might be pursuaded to take you on a loooong drive. Long enough for you to make a decision at least.

OR...

Maybe you are being unreasonable? I don't know. I've never bought new.
