I just had a look to see what was on offer around Victoria and the only one is Daves trip to hell and beyond. Looks like I might have to put something up myself for us hardy souls who love cold weather camping. Hard to beat a roaring fire a few ports then curling up with a hottie in the bag.

lol, I love that area but it's hard to take when it's that hot with 40,000 flys buzzing around. Still it was worth it to meet a few nice old souls. Wasn't bad once the sun went down though.

I'm with you Ray, there's nothing better than a fire and a few reds after the kiddie winks have gone to bed. Looking at your pics there similiar age to mine. Spent easter 2003 at Mt Buffalo, jees it was cold, mind you the kids loved it and slept like little angels. I am looking for a 4WD club at the moment that caters for the family and kids a like, without killing the car in the meantime. Any ideas from anyone.

Hi Pheonix
Not that it matters what area are you from ?
Can get a list of 4WD clubs from www.vafwdc.org.au
I'm with Toyota Landcruiser Club Vic. suits me & there is some very active members with babies & small kids, club has a mix of all ages really, and whilst there is a mix of vehicles in the club I think vehicle specific club can be a big help if you are not mechanically minded (like me lol).

Check out a few clubs over a few months see what the folk are like and take it from there.
Some like TLCCV require you to do there driver training before going on
any trips.

If you need any more help MM me or email addy is under the rig pic.

Cheers

It would be nice if the little ones could come with me but at the moment the wife isn't interested and she wont let them go. Still the eldest has got to the stage where she is asking to so it's only a matter of time.

Ray I was just talking to Bernie (Vic) last night about a little something that I had in mind up Licola way in about 2 weeks time for a couple of nights.

I did the trip last week and want to run it again to re set some track files for the future.

Will drop you a MM in the next couple of days to see if your interested.
Will contact Eric if he has fixed that 80 series yet and see if want to come also.

Cheers

I'll bring my daughter just in case so if we really don't get along she will be able to fix the situation.

By the way Jim she has been having Judo Lessons also.

Good idea Ray - Of course we'd get on OK, I'm sure John's not as bad as he seems :)

Seriously, put me down as a definite maybe - the next 3 or 4 weeks are a bit unknown work-wise at the moment.

Mike Harding

PS. I don't 'spose your daughters over 35 is she John? :)

OBC, That's got me thinking but the brain is not engaged too well as I'm at work :)

You want to drop by home or are you talking about a trip, Johns the main man with the Licola trip, Johnr expressed some interest with a short trip as well. Got a few old Ford racing posters you may like for the garage, one signed by Lowneds and some other geezer. I had one signed by nearly all the Ford drivers when they were here, it fell off the wall at home and the little girl had great fun ripping it up...sigh

OBC=Outback Challenge mate, I understand that you're using all your brain to be at work so ....what I meant was, if your trip is not around 10-20 May and I am about I may tag along for part or all, a day or two as seems fit.

Ray, like to think I could manage a weekend or two and see how the latest mods bed down. Tried to lighten the load a little. Think I have succeeded.

hahaha... too much gear eh John, luckily I put the brakes on before becoming swamped. I'm going to the other extreme now but boy it makes things easier and quicker but gotta have my electronic gizmos to keep me happy. I can envisage a blowout of equipment when the kids and mum come along though.

like a few home comforts too guys. Just working out to have more weight moved to the front rather than at the back. Have the tray off now when the box is on, lost a tool box too but the jack is in front of the back axle rather than behind it.

if your going to carry the same amount ofbleep, then you will have the same amount of weight.

ridding a toolbox would only be = to having a poo before driving off..

Hi guys, the vehicle is basically set up and I'm lookin to give it a field test......but not as extreme as Wombat though!! Depending on dates keep me in the loop as I'd welcome a quite meander back up in the HC. My littlest one is a 9yo boy who will probably want a security deposit to warrant his safety (from your daughter John) but other than that he is seasoned traveller and a good little camper!! Cheers

Yeah Leigh will keep you in the loop.
Went up to Gembrook today with the club, But Errr got to fix a little problem this week now on the Troopy, little problem with the right front CV it went crunch and grinds a bit now.

Gave it a bit to much on a real good track with the front locker in and it objected to the hammering.
I think it was the bounce up the 2 foot high step up that did it.
