Hi Guys,
Can someone tell me some nice easy to medium tracks around Sydney. My cousin just got a new 4wd and i want to introduce them to a nice place without scaring the pants off his wife first up.

The places I know are not for beginners and it would be a HUGE mistake if i took them there in a brand new 4wd.

Preferably within 2 hours of Sydney would be perfect but i am open to offers.
Maybe some easy to medium low range driving with possibly some nice scenery. I suppose nothing too muddy as i doubt he will want to get his brand new toy too dirty....i will work him up to the muddy stuff later :-).

If i get some feedback on this could you also give details of turnoffs from hwy.
Was thinking of Stockton beach but would be a long drive for 1 day so any ideas would be much apreciated.

Cheers Angelo

Hi Angelo,

I would say Lithgow around the Zig Zag railway and out to Newnes and the glow worm tunnel etc. Lots of easy driving around here.

Regards,
Mark

Hi Angelo,

What about going out through Wisemans Ferry and going to Yengo National Park. The tracks are quite rocky with a few jump ups, but nothing too hairy. The views and the scenery are lovely too.

Have fun
Anni

Hi Anni,
Your suggestion was perfect. I have mapped out a meeting place for him and head up that way for the day. Personally I have never been up there myself. Never really thought there was anything exciting up there except crowds. But now i have DiscoverAus, I can see what looks like some nice tracks up there.
So thankyou for your imput very much.
Sometimes we dont see whats available so close to home as we think everything good is so far away.

Hope you had a great ANZAC weekend.

Id take them to Watagans. Tracks vary, but main road in will give them a good feel for the vehicle, then you can branch out from there. Just be careful, if they want scratches etc, then take care on the side tracks.

Hi Brad,
I been in there a couple of times myself. Personally I am trying to get his wife to enjoy herself rather than scare her off. I see 2 problems with your suggestion....
1 The places I know in there are too rough and muddy.
2 I want to show them a place where we can enjoy a river while having lunch. I myself dont know of any rivers up there, I could be wrong but i havent found any YET !!!
But your thoughts are much apreciated mate. Please dont take offence to any of the above.
I have a plan u see.... :-)
If i can get his wife to enjoy offroading, chances are I will have a second car when I go offroad rather than do it alone as i have don most of my past driving. I can tell you its not nice being bogged and being alone.

If he hasn´t bought it yet, tell him to get the book "Close treks around sydney", it´s a great book for people that want to get into 4wding.

Cheers
