Hi all,

I have a quote to hire a sat phone for 3 weeks - $385. Is this a reasonable price?

Better still I notice there a couple of members who are hiring them out. Is there anyone in the Sydney area or Portland - Vic (where my fellow travellers live) who has a phone for hire between June 24-July 17?

Cheers

Earvin

Give my mate John a call on 0409 030 027 or 1800 45 45 87 - he owns Landwide Satellite Solutions. Tell him Chris sent you. He's down in Appin, but ships all over the country.

Might be worth a buzz..

Hi Chrispy,

Thats who the above quote is from. Are you suggesting he will come down in price if I mention your name?

Possibly...

I have nothing to do with his business - I'm just a friend of his. You'll need to mention "Chris" (with the Jeep) rather than "Chrispy" though ;)

Hi Earvin

Becareful of the call rate -
For periods under a month we are $140 per week on a dual CDMA/SAT unit (meaning that you get to try the cheaper CDMA system first before having to use Satellite which costs $3.00 per minute.

We send vis Aust Post registered courier to anywhere for about $15.00 eash way.

If you need more details give me a yell on paul@ozroamer.com.au

Hi Paul,

I am not too concerned about call costs as it is purely for emergencies. I have my own CDMA but know that it has its limitations.

I am simply going to go with the cheapest offer I can find.

Cheers

Earvin,

Paid $450 for a month's hire, in Feb-March 05, from Nixon Communications in Gladstone. Was only for emergencies, don't think they made a call.

Hooroo...

Can't remember most of it.

Thanks Bob so $385 is not looking too bad, comparatively speaking.
