We're reasonably new to
Perth and are looking forward to weekend camping trips this summer.
We spend alot of time in the
Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park however would like to try some other spots.
Does anyone have any tips or know of great quiet camping spots and 4wding spots that are a weekend's trip away from
Perth? (Other than those in the trek notes).
Thanks.

Why not head a little further south and go to the D'Entrecasteaux National Park. A series of tracks start east of
Augusta and run through the beaches White and then
Black Point then onto
Lake Jasper. Good camping areas. Fairly easy 4x4 tracks. Maps of the area are easily obtained.

Hi Nicki,
Western 4WDriver magazine have put out publications called "4WD Days out of Perth" and "4WD Weekends out of Perth" which contain trip notes etc. They are always at the
Perth 4WD & Camping show with copies of these and other back issues of their mag. for sale. Show is this weekend so you could pick up copies if you're going there.
There are plenty of
places all around
Perth. Too many to mention, but one of our favourites is north or
Perth...the
Lancelin,
Wedge Island,
Cervantes and
Jurien Bay run. Great coastal driving. However, I'm pretty sure camping is restricted to
the beach area south of
Wedge Island. North of there you'd have to stay in town.

Nicki,
In addition to what others have already provided you with. You may wish to attend the 4WD Show on this weekend at McCallum Park South
Perth, it'll be full of ideas and info. And while you're there
check out the displays of several surburban
Perth 4WD Clubs. I'm sure this will be of great benifit.
See ya

Scooby,
I don't want to be bias. Suggest you
check for the one nearest to you that may meet your requirements. There will be about 10 Clubs on display this year (out of 35 in the association).

Hey Scooby.
I will be manning the Wanneroo Wanderers tent on Sunday from 8am to closing about 6pm. Drop in and say hello and ask for
John. I will show you my troopie too if I can get it in as the organisers have cut down our space.

there are so many to chose from, from the
hill's to the coast that it would take year's to see it all. we found a beautifull place last weekend called lane-poole reserve, not even two hours from the cbd. so all i can say is enjoy the best city in the country, and the country that surround's it.

Hi there Rick.
Thanks for your comments! It just so happens we packed our cruiser this morning and we're heading to Lane
Pool Reserve this afternoon afterwork. Glad to hear your comments as we were a little concerned about
the spot due to mixed reviews.
Have a great day.
Nicki

Hi Nicki/Rick,
Lane Poole and surrounds are great (take a canoe if you have one) but avoid it like the plague in summer school holidays. Super busy!!!! Rick, it's only a hop-skip-and-jump from our place and we are up there a fair bit. Next time you're heading that way, let's know...we might be able to catch up. You've got my email from the c/t group.
