Just looking for some ideas...
My outlaws are moving from
Sydney to
Darwin in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone had some ideas about driving times, and some suggested routes to take.
I feel the
Sydney -
Broken Hill -
Port Augusta -
Alice Springs -
Darwin could get a bit boring after a few times......lol
We have an 05' Defender, and aren't afraid to use it. So
places like the Simpson could be OK, depending on time allowed.
thanks folks.

Try this link.
It is the Travelmate site will plot a route depending on the variables you put in. Quite handy.

About 6 yrs ago we did it and went
Newcastle-
Bourke ,
Bourke-
Winton ,
Winton- Tennant Creak and then Tennant Creak to
Darwin . All up it was about 4000klm @ 100klms a day.Back then we didnt have kids and took turns driving all day. We only had limited time but would like to do an extended trip up there in a couple of years.
