Hey what's wrong with an area that boasts a megatip, a nuclear reactor and an Oil Refinery across the bay from an international airport.

LOL. Kurnell can't be all bad, i mean it spawned such notables as the Truckster.

Seriously though if you HAVE to live in Sydney, then The Shire is the place to do it. When I leave the Shire it will be because I am leaving Sydney altogether.

Your being a bit tough Wayne in only putting in the negatives, most of which are out of sight.....well maybe not the airport, port botany and the planes....but they create a fairyland at night with the city skyline in the distance.

You didnt mention that Kurnell itself has two national parks, a pretty clean beach without crowds. Rock groynes to fish from if you dont have a boat. A place to sail, windsurf, kitesurf or just wallow in a large area of water. People still walk their dogs and ride their horses on the beach in the quiet times of day. The last sandhill in the area. Within the Shire is "The Royal National Park" and "Heathcote National Park" and there's more.......continual filming is taking place all over the village so we will be seen far and wide, is interesting to watch and brings in revenue. A hop step and a jump from Cronulla for a surfing beach, Boat Harbour 4WD Park for some sand practice. 10 minutes from major shopping. A small friendly club, a bottle shop ;).

What more could you want????

Yeh I know Troopy,
I have Heathcote National Park literally as my backyard which is fantastic.
The Royal is but a short bushwalk away.
I was raised in Cronulla and as a kid I had plenty of use of beaches and estuary (Port Hacking). These are the positives.....
As for being out of sight......well,
when the wind blows from the nor west i get a whiff of the tip.
I work in the Refinery.
The Kurnell sandhills.....more like a lakeland these days because of the sand mining. I have an aerial shot around here somewhere if you are interested.
and the reactor is very visible from Engadine where we do most of our shopping.

Yet I Still Love My Shire or at least the memories of what it was.

Pretty close Eric, but it's not Silver Beach Rd, it's just Silver Beash in "???" Type in "God's Country" in the Google search engine & you will see the answer. Truckster knows, he was booted out of the place!!!!

I worked in kurnell for about 3 years of and on doing up houses for tony simpson.
He used to own a lot of the horse stables and propertys.
We used to put the houses that he brought on the back of trucks back to gether. In and around the old church.

All the best

Small world Eric, we were married in that stone church, were very sad to see it sold, the stables are still there and I think he and his brother still own a lot of the property in that area. My sister and I both worked at his office many years ago. My sister had horses and sometimes rode his, she moved to the country as that was more her life style and now shares the love of horses with her daughters.
