Steve,

We had hornets build a mud nest in upper part of snorkel, on 80 series. Really sluggish, and probably used more fuel too. Made a lot more induction noise though too.

Get about 7km/L out of tojo's up here.

Hooroo...

Can't remember most of it.

Steve check air cleaner as the snorkel will push a lot more rubbish down into the fins also new fuel filters and check the gause filter ib the pump 17mm ring spanner and check the water seperator before you start. You havent run it out of fuel by any chance ?

Steve

It seems to have folowed directly on from getting the snorkel fitted. Have you taken it back to the bloke who fitted it and asked him? I'd be wanting to ask him if he left a rag in the snorkel or something.

take the handbrake off!
Wont be your fuel filter as a dirty FF will make it sluggish but only by starving it of fuel.

Hi Guys I am an earthmoving Fitter of 20 years .Fuel consumption excess of a sudden nature is usually blocked air induction restriction .Air cleaner should be replaced look in the line make sure nothing is blocking .The other guys have said the same .I agree Jeff

Steve you don't actually say what has been normal to you in your post. I accept that as part of the way I drive and the weight I carry or close to it. I have just put the figuers through the PDA and it is 16.5 or just under per 100 and I think you will find a few worse than that too, especially if they use petrol.

The other factor you may consider is that ther has been a change in the place you have bought it. I have found in the past ther are some places that seem to have smaller litres so you end up buying more of them. Sometimes there may be more air injected into the flow - or rather not excluded from the flow and is measured as diesel. I would still check the air filter though.

Are you sure that when they fitted the snorkel, they actually cut a hole in the side of your fender? ;-)

Sometimes it may be due to where you get fuel. When travelling to Darwin we filled at Barkley homestead and the use worked out to be 5k/L. All other places it was 7K/L. same on the trip back.
