To all our Vic friends.
That lightweight feeling in your back pocket.
From a recent news article.
"Victorian motorists are also budgeted to pay $728 million in traffic fines next financial year - more per capita than any other jurisdiction in the world."
But its safety related O/K?
Regards
PS. Those heading for
Birdsville in July, looking forward to putting faces to names.

Yep "safety" related, and the SOB's have budgeted for every cent of this "safety" initiative...

Don't worry, Ithink we have the same problem here in W.A. even down to the marine department who seem to be trying to compete with the traffic for revenue. We can only hope that one day they wake up and get their prioritys right.

OK Rambler, what't the marine dept up to? Planning to take my tinnie to the
Kimberley in about 6 weeks and should I be concentrating on being picked up for some obscure violation? I was kinda hoping I would be far enough away from seeing any of these guys.
Kind regards

In WA you get a $300.00 fine and 3 demerit points for having A s s crack showing. Just ask Truckster. He got double demerit points.

I don't know why thay call them a "fine"?
Because quite frankly ... they are not fine.
Other names for them are "tickets"
A ticket to what? Jail?
Getting a "fine" in the mail.
Well getting a "fine" thing in the mail would have a cheque attached wouldn't it?
An on
the spot "fine" would have the copper slipping YOU $150.00
Isn't being fine when you are
well? If you are doing
well why do they fine you?
I don't understand. If I ask Heidi "how are you?" and she says "fine". Does that mean she wants $125.00 ... or I give her $125.00?
Oh I could go on.
And sometimes I do. Lol

On another subject,
Why do doctors and lawyers call what they do practice?
When are they going to get serious?

Geoff You are not wrong mate.
Imagine winning 1st "Prize" in the lottery.
Really "prize".
You'd have to use a lot of force to get me to hand over 10 Million. Lol.
You'd have to prize it away from me.
As I said I could go on...

heheheh iMusty when you ask Heidi and she says fine, if she's like Marie it means 3 points and $200 not the $125 one pointer you are being relieved of :)

Yeh like our brain dead pollys here in SA, in new budgetjust released, we are spending 21 million on road works, that need 500 million, but we can find 40 million for EXTRA speed camera's?
Why not spend it all on road repaires and not so many will have road accidents!
Dont we just love backdoor taxes!

Beatit,
You don't want to take things for granted with your "tinny" in W.AYou will probably be o.k. on inland waters but make sure you know the rules regarding to boating off the coast as there is a chance of being checked especially as you get further South where there are more revenue hunters around.I am all for sensible safety policing but when it gets down to how many tickets they can issue so they might get a bigger christmas bonus you get no support from me.Hope you can enjoy your travels without these hassles.

G'day Rambler,
Is there a simple way of finding out the requirement, like is there a web address you can point me to? In Qld you need a safety kit for semi open waters (bays) that includes flares, torch, V sheet, mirror, bucket, life jackets and oars/paddles. Should you go out into open waters you are also required to have an epirb and radio. Got all this stuff so just want to see if there are other requirements.
Oh yes, also heard that recently they were enforcing boat registrations including the SIZE of the rego letters on the boat.
Kind regards

Beatit,
If you go into Google
Search and type in, department of planning and infrastructure
boating guide, the first site will show everything and you can download the actual boting guide(fifth edition). It is a very well put together book and Ithink it is free so alternatively you could write for one to be sent to you.I hope this is of help to you but basically I think you are allready covered with your safety gear.Cheers!
