Just drove to
Southport from
Sydney last weekend, picked up a 2003 L/C Turbo Diesel, loaded with heaps of ARB stuff. Only done 37K kilometres, like new, never been offroad. Bloke's missus didn't like the vehicle so it got sold. I am stoked at how good it went on the drive back to
Sydney. I bought it to tow a 25'Jaco Van & do some offroad.
Two Questions if I may?
1) Is the Turbo Timer on the console a standard feature or an add on?
2) Is it worth considering a Detronic or Tunit unit to up the hp and torque?
Regards and thanks in anticipation of expert advice of readers.

I think you will find the turbo timer is an add on.
Wait until you have driven it for awhile - in particular do a couple of decent trips towing your van before you spend big money on the Detronic or Tunit units. You may not need them and then spend the money on something you might realy need.
Just my opinion.

Yeah the turbo timer would have been added on, but they are a good item to have. Upgrading the horse power on the LC would probally not be neccessary I would have though, one of the most powerful in it's class.

Blackmax11,
I have a Detronic chip fitted to my TD Cruiser and do a lot of towing. Where the chip really helps is when you are towing as it reduces the turbo lag and helps you off the mark a lot better, up high it does not make a lot of difference and fuel consumption is no different.

I have a 100TD with Dtronic and I agree with Big
John.
Mine is a manual and I believe that if towing the Dtronic is worth the cost. Next time I will get an auto 100TD so I will try it without the Dtronic first. I can't swap over my Dtronic as Toyota changed the wiring loom with a model upgrade.

I have a 2004 auto turbo diesel and tow a lot. I fitted the dtronic and have been more than happy. Definatly better acceleration and more torque. I also fitted the turbo timer although I have been told that they are really not neccessary with the new high tech water cooled turbo's
