Spied in the early hours this morning at the Pheasants Nest servo on the Hune Highway. Three of the new Mitsi sedans. Heavily disguised with fiberglass add ons. The back seat of one was removed and replaced with all electronic/ computers and stuff. Couldn't see if they were RWD or FWD- the 'crew' wouldn't allow me close enough to look under.
Not a bad lookin car but. (i think with all the bits removed). I think they hide them during the day and do highway testing at nite.

Had my own test car sighting the other day....

A new Holden Monaro, left hand drive, Holden badges removed, with Chevrolet badges on the rear of the vehicle, big stickers announcing "LEFT HAND DRIVE" and "ENGINEERING EVALUATION VEHICLE"....

....parked literally at the front door of Super Cheap Auto in Mentone. No kidding.

The Munro you talk about might be the one that is parked in our neighbours drive way each night.

It is currently being tested by BOSCH and is loaded with all of next years goodies (brake kits, electrics and the like)

Have had a good close look at it and you would not believe the amount of holes that have been hole sawed through it to accomodate the additional wiring they connect up to the equipment they carry.

Can't believe that once they finish their testing, the cars are crushed (they are not even alowed to resell the rims) or interiors.

They had a cruiser once and the $$$ opportunity was to great I had to ask if I could buy parts to resell.

Nice work if you can get it hey

Could it of been a GTO that had been brought over from USA for testing; they are a Monaro body with a different engine and other bits and piecers added on.

Many years ago worked for Girlock who supplied their lightweight Collette Disc Brake Calipres to the US for fitment as standard equipment to the two door Chevie.
Needless to say we had one over here in Sydney for exhaustive evaluation and yes, at the end of the testing the beast was crushed and recycled - cheaper than shipping it back to the States. Wow! Didn't that one turn heads on Parramatta Road.

There's an article in today's West Australian Newspaper about the new Mitsu Sedan, duw for release in October at the Sydney Motor Show. It replaces the Magna and Verada which are to be discontinued. It will be called the Mitsubishi 380 (named after its 3.8lt engine).
