Has anyone recently driven the road from
Katherine to
Nhulunbuy?
My wife and I will be travelling it in July this year and are interested in road conditions.
We intend to take our modified caravan as far as Mainoru Station and head on to
Nhulunbuy
with tent etc.

Travelled this road a couple of years ago- good road with a few creek crossings but if not in flood no worries! This is a long trip- no camping on the way as it is aboriginal land. You must get a permit to cross first! There is no camping at
Nhulunbuy and if you want to
camp at the beaches nearby another permit required! Mainoru Station have a service station on the road up there but otherwise a boring trip to do in one day! The hotel up there charges
Sydney prices and is enclosed inside a high wire fence. Have fun though, the road was excellent at that time-fast as you like!!
