In a previous post Tim said "From Brissy to Newcastle go the NE until you get to Uralla (just south of Armidale) turn off there and go down through Walcha and Gloucester on the thunderbolts way then hook up with the F3 at Hexam/Bero.
The thunderbolts way shaves a good hour off the trip and its great scenic country too. Good road most of the way and you won't see many cars.
South of Sydney your on your own."

My question is, after Gloucester do you go through Booral and come out about 18kms north of Raymond Terrace or do you go through Dungog and come out at Raymond Terrace. I'm going down that way in a couple of weeks and looking for something different particularly if it saves a bit of time.
Cheers
Erwin

that road is not a very fast easy road to drive, expect to add on on at least an hour drive to your trip time.

Bye the way where to you want to head in sydney and or were are travelling too?

let me know becausr there are some good ways to get to sydney that might only add a half an hour to the trip and might save you some time depending on where you are going.

Final destination is Wollongong. Previously I have travelled the New England to Newcastle and then down the freeway. At end (I think its the Pacific Hy I turn left, go about 5 kms turn right and end up going past Homebush and end up on the Princess Hy near Tom Ugly's bridge and the airport.
Have done this trip 5 times this year and am looking for something different but don't want to add too much more time on my trip.

Thanks

ok a way that might take off 30- 45 minutes is the new england to singleton. Then take the Putty road to windsor,
when you get to windsor head for penrith via Cranbrook,
from penrith head to narellen,
narellen via narellen rd to glen alpine
glen alpine via appin rd to bulli,

a lot more senic than head down the newcastle hway and could be a lot quicker than hitting sydney in peak hour.
