If anyone out there has some recent photo's of the Yarmarna Homestead that is located to the East of Laverton in Western Australia.
I was working and staying at the homestead in the early to mid 90's carring out exploration surveys for various exploration companies.
We surveyed a hand cut base line that ran for about 50Km's Nth and 50 Km's Sth of the homestead.

It was a very interesting place and the owner of the station was still living there and from memory there were no livestock on the property.

On one of our days off we travelled out to Yeo Homestead, which i believe was the only station East of Yarmarna and was abandoned because there was no fresh water, there are many interesting places around that area. At Mt Flemming (Sth of Yarmarna) there was this very large air strip and there was also one at Mt Veen (Nth of Yarmarna).
if anyone know if there is an old open pit mine just to the West of the homestead (within 10Km's) i would also be interested in any photo's.

Kevin,
I have emailed a few photos to your Yahoo email address. They are from August 2003. The homestead was abandoned, and falling apart.

Don't know of the mine.

Cheers
Phil

Hi Kevin. We spent a week out there 2001. Homestead was abandoned then. We
set up our camp at a exploration camp a couple of km's away That was also
abandoned. But the phone was still working in the office.Never see any signs of a open cut mine. But had a chat to two grader drivers working the road from the
homestead to the Great Central rd. They said they were building a road for a
new mine that was going to open up. Have not been back since as we only found 1
piece. Have not got any photos but hope this helps.
Brian.
Also a little story. We was up this track detecting away when this 4x4 pulled.
Driver got out came over to us, Our minds were starting to race thinking up
excuses. We he got to us I read his identfication around his neck, and guess what
he was delivering cencus? forms. So we got caught out there
