3 months and $7000+ later, I have finished with the conversion from petrol 3f to diesel 1hz on the 80series. You can see pics here: www.ozsigns.com/aussie/fj80tohzj80

very impressive, should have sold that story to a 4WD magazine, but the cost sounds bout right if you don't include the labour.
Good luck, keep us posted with any probs. Would have thought spending that amount of money might have got a much newer engine holder but i guess you thought of that and you get what you can afford.

I see you have used a Daiken clutch kit.
I hope you have better luck with it than I did.
Mine lasted 12 months and then I changed it as I couldn't stand the noises coming from the clutch. Put a genuine clutch in it and no dramas.
Other than that
well done. A huge job that I wouldn't have tackled.

6 months and nearly three times your cost, my 1hz is in [paid the man], replaced the 2H. Recod gearbox, turboed and replaced radiator. New aircon and cruise control.... so much better. I'm interested in your fuel economy. So... a litre will take you more than 7ks?.... i.e. less than 14l/100k?
Cheers Royce

Royce, actually, the job only took me 1 week (from 7.00am to 7.00pm though), the parts hunt is what takes time.
Fuel economy... I have only done 300kms since, but already done a bit of highway and it averaged 13.3l/100k, I suppose this is about right, but I think some guys have been getting better fuel economy out of their 1HZ, let´s see if somebody else can post their fuel figures.
Cheers
