Hi, I'm a newby to this
forum and a great one it is. I have a question and I hope someone can answer it, Last year we were in
Leonora WA and heard of a guy from
perth that sell satelite dishes complete with tuner and box. The price he charged was around the $500, and this was a portable one that you can carry around with you in your caravan. Does anyone know where I can buy a similar one or know of this place in
Perth. I am located in the Riverland in SA at the moment and will be here for 12 months but would like to purchase the dish now. Can anyone help.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards. Mono.

There is some crowd in
Strathalbyn that does it for 6-800 bucks. I saw them at the Lucindale Field Days. If you want ,I may be able to dig out some details if no-one can help out. From memory they have about 2 or 3 ABC channels, SBS., Imparjia and a couple of commercial stations that have normal 7 or 9 programmes but with different ads, e.g. ads from Burke Mitre 10 and tyre ads from Dubbo. Rus.

Hi Russel and Mary
Thanks for your promt answer, Do you know if they have a web site. I have done several searches with no luck.
Thanks again.
Nan and I have been traveling around Oz for the last 3 years and a Sat dish would be really great for those cold rainy nights in the bush.
Regards, Mono.

Brisbane camping show recently and they had the satelllite dish as
well as the normal aerial

forum seem to get theirs from Hardware & Tare at
http://www.users.tpg.com.au/adsljrni/index.htm
Being in WA i would be interested in any feedback regarding
Perth suppliers. Wanting something fairly small and lightweight.

Mate,save your money.
The channels that you can get are on B3 which is/can be a pain to line up.
Anyway, reciever app $ 230, dish about $70-80 bit of Co-ax cable from Uncle Dick's
$30, sat finder meter $30 and thats it.
If you go the way of a subscriber card {Optus Aurora} this will cost $100
This way you can use the C1 satellite which is a lot stronger and easier to lock onto.
I have got this system and it works fairly
well as long as you can see the satellite ie
no trees etc blocking its signal.
If you need to know any more there are several sites on the 'net or you can have a look at www.hotchip.com or ring them Hotchip in
Sydney
Leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photos

we needed similar - but beware - you get a lot of cowboys that will tell you anything= particularly in what you can receive. We found this lot:
http://www.videosat.com.au/index.html the best. We bought dish, sat finder, cables, tripod etc for $350. but note we have to take out Austar box and card with us. Will not recieve free to air - (
well not normal progs antway!). Easy to set up and use
