Hallo forumites, with all the preparation for our big trip across the Simpson Desert in 2 weeks time I forgot to order a Desert pass from this great site!! Can you buy this in Birdsville?? if not what is the next option, we leave Sydney on Sept 10 and hope to be in Birdsville on the 17th. Are there other people crossing the Simpson aound that time? we like to travel in company.

If you can't get it in time through Exploroz, then if you phone up Desert Parks at Port Augusta (1800 816078) they will take your card number over the phone and put a new one in the mail same day. Tell them you want it straight away and they will mail it express.

Cheers
Phil

Hi, thanks all for your response, the best option for us is to buy the pass in Birdsville, I was'nt sure you could do that.

There is a $160 fine and you will then have to buy the pass for another $95, total $255. Not worth it for the fine but this years pass is better value as you get a great colour book with maps and lots of good info.
