I am looking at doing a trip upto
Coral bay at the end of the year, looks like its about 1200kms from
perth with all sealed roads.
I can get about 950kms out of a
tank of juice from the nissan patrol so should only have to stop once for fuel!
Has anyone else done this trip? Is there any suggestions people have on accomodation or anything.
Thanks

It is an absolutely beautiful spot. I would book if you intend to use the caravan
park, which looks great and is right on
the beach. Plenty of good
places for fuel on the trip and lots to see.
Happy
trails, Mike.

As above - ensure you book early as it is very busy especially in the holidays. There are 2 caravan parks - Bayview and Peoples. It does get quite windy and hot around Xmas!! Another option is to
camp on
Ningaloo station - you need to be totally self sufficient but there are a lot less people around (and it is only $2.50 per person per night
camping fees)

Another choice is Warroora Station about 38ks south. Great spot to
camp on
the beach or behind the dunes. From memory $5per night per day. You have to be totally self sufficent and you have to have a chemical
toilet. Good fishing off
the beach at times. We camped there and did a day drive into
Coral Bay which I found was overcrowded and like a resort although it is certainly a pretty place.

Take as much food, grog etc as you can as it is one of the most expensive
places I have been to for just everyday items.

Have stayed there a number of times after Aust Day weekend and virtually had the place to ourselves but that doesn't tie in with school holidays if that's a consideration.

We have done it 2 times both times from
Perth; we drive up to
Geraldton on the first day and stay at a mate’s farm, then just drive the rest the next day. After the
Kalbarri turns off we just give it a bit of right pedal and keep an eye out for the local constabulary we sat on around 130kp/h, road’s are straight and it is a easy drive.

G'day blackwrx,
You lucky bu*ger, we done the
coral bay a couple of years ago on a round aust. trip, what a beautiful place, as is your whole state. Take note of the other suggestions they're all right.
The only thing I could add is, take your own snorkleing gear as it tended to be a bit expensive to hire and
coral bay is a marine
park, so no fishing.
cheers

its a top site ,we have only ever experienced difficulty getting in when its school hols ,one of the most memorable things was the fish underneath the moored up fishing boats they are so friendly and we had them following in us to six inches of
water ,we did have a little feed for them .Great place if not to busy ,we got caught out one year though and ended up
parking up for the night on the
carpark by
the beach and the
ranger was none to friendly as a little party atmosphere was starting to appear because people couldnt
camp any where ,so out came the infringement book ,but it was one of the best nights ive had in
coral bay and
well worth the fine for not moving on .we moved on upto
exmouth the next day .

Nice spot but way overcrowded during popular holiday periods such as in December. If you don't mind
bush camping and are somwwhat self contained you can stay at several locations on the coast between
Coral Bay and Yardie
Creek. Our favourite is
Ningaloo Station. Alternatively, you could stay in the national
park campgrounds north of Yardie
Creek and from there its sealed road around to
Exmouth. Don't miss
Shothole Canyon and Charles Knife Gorges when you're up that way. Breathtaking!
