I have had a Tekonsha Electric Brake unit in my Troopy for a couple of years and find it OK.
Recently my Neighbour informed me that my Brake lights come on during the night for no apparent reason. Has caused him on a couple of occaisions to creep up on the baddies that are not there.
Has anyone experienced this problem.
I seem to think that I have read something somewhere that this is something that happens with the 'Voyager Tekonsha" unit.

Hi Jenko
Had the same problem with the tekonsha voyager and it is a problem with the unit return it to the place of purchase for replacement under warranty.
IMOP pay the extra $$$ towards the tekonsha prodigy brilliant brake controller but also I have a mate who recieved the prodigy as a replacement for the voyager so you could be lucky.
Regards
Kimbo

Yes, has been reported on the
forum from time to time.
Most people upgrade to the Tekonsha Prodigy model.

They will demand you present it with the original purchase receipt, they did for me anyway. I told them it was long gone & they said without it they could do nothing for me, that was until I said, "In that case I will present it to Vicroads Road Safety Division & let them handle it"........ I had a new one PDQ!
It is a known fault & they should have been recalled as a safety issue.

My Voyoger did the same thing aprrox 12 months ago. No one would replace it without the receipt. Finally got on to Tekonsha through their web site in the US. They were great and had really good customer service and didn't care about the receipt as long as the 5 year warranty hadn't expired. There's a date sticker on the controler. I still had no joy with the local supplier even when I explained what Tekonsha had said so Tekonsha arranged for the aussie agent to replace it for me through their national supplier . They also upgraded it, and after I had picked it up I sold it on Ebay and bought a Prodogy unit. It's excellent. Hope this helps and good luck.

You don't need to replace it.
Just put a diode in the brake switch feed line- too easy.
Cheers

Same problem here and also for brother-in-law. I would it's more than just a known fault - really its a design error that seems to be very commonly encountered. Tekonsha surely should have recalled the all Voyagers as faulty units.
