Evening All , We are off to
Paynes Find in Sept for a couple of nights. Was looking at
camping at Mt Gibson ( station/
homestead ) . Has anyone been that way lately and could suggest some other spots , other homesteads that have basic facilities. Showers would be nice even donkey showers.Cheers Spencer

Is there something other than the service station that sells dodgy fuel at
Paynes Find? WOW.

Yeah the view from the top of MT
Singleton is very good.
They are not big on track maintenance thou, especially towards the back of the property, when we were there a few month’s ago we followed some tracks that had not been driven on in a long time we only new it was a track as it was on the map, It is no longer a working station either the place has been overrun by goat’s and the land has reach it’s limit, so it is now being turned into a bush reserve, So the owner say’s anyway.

It was a bit of a tongue in cheek dig really!
I have never bought fuel there but a sales rep mate of
mine has twice purchased fuel there and had trouble with his engine management light coming on, which in a 3.0 patrol could mean many things, but the booklet says the first thing to look for is
water in the fuel, and bugger me if he didn't find
water in the fuel filter on both occasions.

Kirkalocka Station between
Paynes Find and Mt Magnet. We overnighted there at the beginning of May and thoroughly enjoyed it. Facilities are the shearers quarters and donkey showers. Set the camper up right in front of the quarters where there was a shaded patio of sorts with BBQ and half drum to have a fire. Also had the run of the shearers mess. Basic but the place had a nice ambience. Baby goats and horses to pet and a couple of freindly cows - the kids loved it! Almost perfect striking distance for first night out of home when we're heading north so will definitely stay there again.
