Folks,
Is there anyone in
Sydney that would be interested in setting up a little biodiesel still somewhere? I don't know too much about it, except what I have read on the internet, but I would think it wouldn't be too hard to set up a 1000L unit.
If a few of us got together, we could all chip in a bit, and take away a percentage of the fuel each at the end of making each batch.
I thought the government excise kicked in above a certail number of litres, so if we set up a little coop, we might be able to get around that somehow, especially if it is for personal consumption......
Just a thought, anyway.

Hi Boy.
I have a brother-in-law in Morwell who got all excited a couple of years ago about producing it in a coop. He actually made some at home in the shed. He ran his 4x4 on a mixture of bio-desil and desil and it didn't blow up. Didn't go far though. Ran out of Bio-desil.
If the idea was a goer there would be coops everywhere, just like cash crop plantations for personal use.
You need to do a preliminary business plan fairly early in the process. I suspect the business plan will tell you to drop the idea and put your energy, time and money into having fun in your 4x4. Please keep us posted.
Regards,
Laurie.

I saw a food company delivering to Smorgys today, the truck in big letters saying RUNNING ON BIODIESEL.
gettin the oil will become harder if the business' are using it themselves, and people realise its value

Hi Chump_boy,
Good idea but cruch your numbers first. there is a 38 cent excise on every litre you produce be it bio-deisel or a blob gell made from a mistake also you need to be licenced aswell put this together with the price of your equipment will you save enought $ to make it viable...a good thought.
