In QLD, if you have a 5th wheeler is the towing capacity of a vehicle changed. For example if I have a vehicle than can tow a 3.5 tonne trailer with electric brakes. Can it tow more with the 5th wheeler setup? I have heard conflicting stories about this and can't find out where to find the information on the legal aspects of towing 5th wheelers.

Not a bad one, found it a while back looking around for a bloke I work with. He's into race horses and was looking at a fifth wheel horse transporter. He reckoned they were great to deal with, even though he made it clear he was after info and not necessarily going to purchase their product.

Seems to make no difference whether you tow a 5th wheeler or a trailer , the weight is the same.
Probably why the majority of 5th wheelers are towed by the big Utes , F250's etc.

Yes, that is what it appears. I actually thought that with the weight dispersed differently it would make towing capacity more. I guess if the vehicle is rated at a certain towing capacity that is it.
