Now that I have your attention.
My next door neibour owns a V6 rodeo trayback, and have of late been noticeing how thirsty it is, 13.5 to 14 lt per 100ks, more if he gets up it, its also swallowing $100.00 bills each time he fills up.
"They all do that sir, its an undocumented feature" is the usual reply to isuzu v6 fuel consumption complaints, however.........
I remember reading about a mod to the airbox someone had posted on one of the many forums I read, that he claimed decreased his fuel consumption, do you think I can find it again!?? fat chance.
I wasnt paying attention as I have a diesel with a snorkle.
So does anyone else have any airbox mods for thirsty V6's?? or links to them??
The guys a kiwi, needs all the help he can get...........

v6 = fuel guzzler..............no matter what he tries (apart from leaving it at home) it will drink fuel. The engine and gearing and other stuff mean that is the way it is. 13-14l/100kms is good for this type of vehicle...........and no matter what anyone tries to tell you all the other v6 utility type 4wds are the same. just let him bask in the knowledge that unlike his hp diesel cousins he doesn't need to spend a squillion dollars servicing it every 5000kms. for no other reason than i can - this week i used an sv6 commodore (6000kms on the dial) for a quick 1000km run north of
perth - the little computer says we averaged 8.7l/100kms - a fair bit of the time was spent a bit over 2700rpm in d - in my books that is very impressive.

V6 Triton, 12L/100km at the moment and that's mostly local stop/start driving. Since fuel sky rocketed, we stopped using the second car when possible.

V6 Hilux just under 12l/100km again for local stop/start driving. Guzzles if you've got a heavy foot.

By the way, if anyone has any ideas on why
mine is using so much, feel free to give me a follow up.
cheers

He doesn't want to know "how far", he already knows that, he wants to know "why"!

Oh, and he doesn't need to be told it's because he doesn't have a bloody 'tin can' in his fuel line!

HI Ando 80 I did get your injector's and pump done asap as
mine was using that much fuel before it blew up cracked number 2 pistion with 160 km on the clock only thing we can put it down to was the over fueling on that cylinder sent pump and injectors away and all were stuffed and get a comprestion test to check for damage to motor

have a squiz over at australia4wd.com in the jackaroo
forum, heaps there on modding the v6 for better efficiency.
If its a manual yep, can improve heaps, but if its an auto then not much will help.
Cheap basic stuff, foam element, cold air intake with removal of heavily restrictive inlet piping, and removal of restrictors in the exhaust.
