Hello
I am looking for infomation from knowledgeable forumites on the track between Sudley
homestead (on the road to
Weipa) and Batavia Downs
homestead on the
Bamaga road.
Is the track open to the public or is it a property track with restricted access?
What condition is the track generally in?
Are there any difficult
creek crossings or really rocky boulder hopping sections etc.
thanks
Toolman

Hi Toolman,
I used this track 3 weeks ago. As long as you stick to the main track you will not have any issues. You will need permission from Batavia if you wish to venture off the main track or to
camp anywhere on their property.
The track is quite
well formed but it is very corrugated at the moment so you will need to take it easy. There are 2
creek crossings you need to negotiate, but they were both dry when we went through. If you are coming from
Weipa, the first crossing has a steep entry but should not be a problem even if you are towing a camper trailer or offroad van. Allow about 1 hour to drive the track.
If you still have any questions or concerns you can always give Batavia Downs Station a call on (07) 4060 3272
Regards
Rick.
