See the Winton to Innaminka Trek Note to get you from Innaminka to Winton.

Oh and for the shortest run turn left at Jundah and go via Warbreccan and Tonkoro which will take you into the back of Lark Quary and bypasses Longreach.

If you are into good outback travel, then: Past Nappa Merie turn off go straight ahead on Arrabury station rd. (past l. Pure on R), straight ahead to Betoota/Windorah rd. (l. Yamma Yamma on R) turn L on Windorah/Bedourie rd., then R at Currawilla HS. to Palparara. on to Davenport Downs. Here, a road turns R to Connemarra then Tonkero on Jundah/Winton rd. (Lark Quarry strait ahead) or continue through Diamantina Lakes NP to Old Cork where the road running E takes you right to Lark Quarry.
If (for some reason) you want to go to Longreach before Winton (its backtracking) you can go through Opalton, Maynside, Vergemont, Maneroo. This takes you across the Boulder Opal fields.
Travel this one and you have been through Gods own country!!
hey! but not if its wet!
Road trains with cattle on board use all these roads, so take it easy.

I wrote the Winton Innamincka trek notes and I have to say that that trek is simply the best I have ever done, and I have done a few. If you love the Aussie bush and the simple things, if you love meeting people of similar interest, if you love looking for opals and interesting artifacts, just do the trek exactly as it is (though in reverse).

Where else could you travel 1200k and 19 million years.

You wil love it.

PS. I recommend downloading the GPS plot for the leg from Longreach to Opalton, the track can be hard to follow close to Opalton.
