Thank you to those who replied about my query on the Coromal Silhouette Camper. Went to Western
Sydney at the weekend to look at the Goldstream and the Coromal and decided on the Coromal. My wife and I decided it was a better made Camper and also the fact that the dealer gave me more for my
Camp-o-Matic Camper than I paid for it 6 years ago as a trade in really helped make the final decision. Should get it before Christmas and look forward to many years of being "Happy Campers".
Keep up the good work on this
forum. Always a good read every day.
Cheers
The Bigfella
PS. To save confusion my name is "Stoutman" when I get on the
forum from my
shop and "Bigfella" when I am on the net at home.

Congratulations on you purchase - Hope you like it as much as we like ours.
Obviously from your nom de plumes you are the big man at home but only a short man at work?

Thanks. We are looking forward to many more trips around "Oz" in it.
I am an avid homebrewer and the end result shows (I am 135Kgs) and yes, big in size but the "Stoutman" comes from my liking of the odd "tipple" of Stout. All my mates have called me "The Bigfella" for years and when I changed providers on going over to ADSL "Bigfella" was already taken as an E-Mail address so hence a different one for home to the
shop.
Have a great day.

Great purchase big fella, just a few things to look out for. Myself and a mate both purchased Coromal Silhouettes and both had major dust problems on dirt tracks IE:
Oodnadatta,
Heritage trail etc etc etc.
Coromal finally admited that they had problems with the fibreglass moulds which made a beutifull wind tunnel and dust to the extremes of the she who must be obeyed almost killed us. After extensive modifications we now seem to have capable of road trailers. If you plan to travel of the bitumen I would suggest that you check that the front and rear fibreglass moulds under the extention beds are now flat and do not dip 10 to 15mm as ours did and pressurise them as we did.
Other than that they a a great unit.
Enjoy reagrds Thommo

Thanks for the info. I do intend doing dirt roads, tracks, etc as I have just come back from the
Birdsville races. Have
Lawn Hill as
well as the Kimberly in mind in the future so dirt will be a must. My wife won't mind some dust as we got a fair bit in our camper on the
Birdsville trip but do appreciate the info.
Cheers

Good decision!
We are very pleased with ours and we have done a lot of KM on dirt in the last six months. The only time we got a bit of dust in was early in the first trip when I had not learned to check the position of the dust seal at each of the corner poles or columns when winding down. The poles tend to drag and distort the seal so that it does not sit correctly. Solution is to just check and straighten it with your fingers when you almost have the lid closed. Also don't leave the roof vent open even a little bit when towing.
By the way for other Coromal owners, do you have problems with grease from those corner poles getting onto the canvas? I have wiped them down to lessen the problem. One fix is to make sure that the outer cover flaps are opened out wide and do not get tucked in behind the post as the top comes down. Despite the canvas care instructions I wiped the grease off the canvas with some turps on a rag. Even if it does affect the waterproofing it shouldn't matter because the flap is not critical to the wall.
Oh by the way your new Coromal will attract a lot of attention and comments from other travellers. We must be outnumbered by Jayco at about 50 to 1.

Thanks for the info. The good thing about this
forum is the excellent advice given by people like yourself. It is nice to be able to get other peoples advice who have already bought a product the same. My wife and I are looking forward to getting the Coromal and trying it out ASAP.
You are right about the amount of Jayco's on the road. After our recent trip to
Birdsville I think you are right about the 50 to 1. They are like bums (everybody has got one). We looked at the Jayco but were not confident that it would be a good product but as there are so many about they can't be all that bad.
We also noticed that Toyotas out numbered Nissans on our trip as
well. (I am NOT starting up a debate either). Just a fact of life and as I always say it is" horses for courses".
Cheers
