Bought a 75er Lancruiser Bushcamper with a fibreglass high-top and have some challange where to mount the 2nd spare wheel. 1st spare is mounted on the back door.
- no space underneath (2nd fuel + water tank)
- too less space on the 2nd back door, even with relocation of the 1st spare wheel and don't want to spend heaps of money for a swing away that fits both
- roof is to high and instable to put it on top
- don't think about inside (my girlfriend will kick it out at the first stop)
- bull bar mounting cuts the air stream into the cooler
- bonnet mounting ....not the best put the only left option
Any Ideas?

Seriously, you haven't left much in the way of viable options.

Maybe you could convince the Girlfriend to allow you to store a carcass inside with other gear in the centre and around/over it.

Of course you would need a good quality pump to re-inflate it but then again, if you are going places where you think you need a second spare, you should also include a bead breaker, pump and tyre repair kit.

If you use tubeless, then I wouldn't bother - use good 16inch tyres, with plenty of tread, and take away a tubeless plug kit and a good tyre pump. On very rare occasions you may want the beadbreakers/levers/spare tube. All depends on where you're going, and whether you travel alone or not.

If you use split rims, then you'll need the 2nd spare, and a twin carrier is the common option. Some people I know will tie a spare casing to the wheel on the rear door.

Cheers
Phil

I know you said the girlfriend won't have it inside but....

Option 1 Leave girlfriend at home and take second spare.

Option 2 Mount second spare on inside of rear door and cover with a spare wheel cover to keep other gear clean.

Option 1 is the cheapest.

Come accross an old german guy south of balladonia and he had a high top and it had scrub bars built that protect the edges of the top as well as the front of the fibreglass and the second spare was atached to that at an angle above the cab

Thx a lot for advices. The option with inside mounting of the rear door is very helpful, have to measure if it fits.

What about the bonnet mountig. Does anybody has experiences with that?

I suspect it is illegal same as a blower on a hoon mobile obstructs vision. A 7.5x 16 might be ok but some huge 36inch super swamper could be a bit difficult to see around. Other issue is strenght of bonnet and catch. If you dont properly adjust your rubber adjusters the bonnet will hammer up and down on the ruff stuff and stuff your catch --- without putting a tyre into the picture. My gut feeling is it is not desighned for it
