There are..lots and lots and lots...Camps Australia Wide lists most of them...we travelled across there recently and and I reckon that you would easily get what you describe into most if not all of them...cheers

You will notice microwave towers on either side of the Erye highway. They are about 70 to 100 kms apart and are several km off the highway. All have good gravel roads leading into them.

Just drive a couple of km down and you'll often find a blue metal pad or similar. We have crossed the Nullabaor several times with a 4wd and 20 foot van and never had a problem with turning circles or unwelcome neighbours.

These areas are great as you can get away from the truck noise and you often see lots of local wild life.

One that specifically springs to mind is down the Eyre bird Observatory track. We proppeed overnight near where the plateau drops down to the coastal plain. That was was quite near the actual microwave tower

Cheers

Check post 26622 from a few days ago for a thread on free camping between Norseman & Ceduna. Most of the time it is wide open country or bush where you can stop almost anywhere. If you are wanting facilities, the roadhouses have campsites. Some of the large parking bays have a "long drop" toilet and are popular overnight spots. At Ceduna, Shelley Beach caravan park comes highly recommended by travellers we have met - on south side of Ceduna i think. We just pay $3 for showers at the Shell or BP and go bush again. As we weren't looking to stop between Kimba and Pt Augusta, i may not have made any notes of good spots - I would need to check my scrawls in my diary if you do want to stop on that stretch. Having been that way once, we did detours to the North and to the South on the subsequent crossing. Do you have a time frame? I can be more specific if i know where you plan to stop. You may be like us, and just stop when you find a good place at the right time to stop.
