Do any of you nomads out there tow with a Navara 3.0 turbo.I am thinking of using one to tow a Coromal 22.5 footer 1930kg dry 2500kg loaded. On paper it looks ok but I would like to hear from someone with personal experience.Regards Spag.

Hi,
I have a navara, and primarily tow a 650 - 700kg camper trailer, but have also used to tow a car trailer with a commodore on the trailer.
When towing the camper trailer, the acceleration is naturally slower, but not really noticeable.
When towing the car trailer (I guess about 1800kgs), yes the acceleration is slower, and you require longer braking distances.
I find the Navara to be an extremely torquey engine, and would have no hesitation in towing th2.5 tonne on a regular basis.
I would just adjust my driving style to suit the weight.

Brother towed until a few months ago a horse float that would have been about 2,000 kg fully loaded. He bought it for that purpose and lives in
Toowoomba, quite hilly. Clocked about 80,000 km in 3 years. I believe at the time he bought it was the highest rated towing dual cab on the market.
He was very happy with how it went and only recently upgraded to a Disco wagon.

Have a 3.5litre NM Pajero Automatic and it towes a 1500 kg trailer great. The auto has the 5 speed semi-auto shift which works very
well. Would probably not feel that comfortable with 2500 kg behind me however others may have actually tried.
Would recommend any buyer planning on towing with a pajero to check their hitch requirements as some are too high for the back door and it won't open. eg I use the mitsubishi tow bar for towing my tinnie but have got hold of a nissan tow bar for my off road coupling for the camper trailer.

gid'ay spag
i'm not try to put you off as i've seen plenty of big vans being towed by navara's,i had a 21ft full van ,shower,
toilet, aircon tare was 1750kg's.i also have a ditronic fitted to the ute;towed okay the only problem was fuel economy and the clutch it slipped a fair bit on
hill starts, traded to a 1200kg tare pop top, better economy and mutch easier on the clutch, i should add my ute had a registered tare of 1850kg ,with canopy and all the
camping gear etc.tare's at 2250kg's
hope this helps
cheers toohey.
