Hi, I have a much loved HJ47 Troopy which has the usual cancer in the rim around the roof & the upper side panels. I have managed to procure a 2nd hand roof in good order, but cannot find the appropriate panels. Does anyone know whether these panels can be bought new or if there are rust repair panels on the market? Alternatively, has anyone made similar repairs & can you recommend someone to carry out the repairs? I am in the Parramatta Area of Sydney. Thanks,
John H

There is a company in NoosaQld, which manufactures fibreglass panels for the 40 series Toyota. They may be able to help you out.

Thanks Willem. Will have a look at their site. Would prefer steel though as to go full fibreglass would require roll bars etc.

I have a mate here in SA who has a 1981 FJ47 Troopy. It hasn't run in a while but is still a goer(has a Ford XF engine conversion). It is a country vehicle with minimal rust, some lower rear panel damage and you may be able to pick it up for very little.

I have a friend here in Melbourne who purchased new roof channels from japan of all places , but they only had for shorties so he bought 2 sets to make one.

Rock Crawler & Willem,
thanks for the replies. Willem, unfortunately SA is a bit of a trip from Sydney, but if all else fails..........
Rock Crawler, thanks, that is a good suggestion as well. I have sent an email to the company in Brisbane that do the fibre glass panels. Maybe there will be some more life for the old troopy yet.

You could try contacting this 4wd wrecker in Townsville - used to sell origional unused steel panels that were stripped from mining vehicles - panels were taken off before the vehicle went underground.
