Not all roads are open, and there are to be late seasonal closures until late December this year, just nobody knows where or which tracks

www.travelmate.com.au for times and ways.

Have spoken with the Bright Ranger recently who seems to think several of the minor tracks leading into Wonnangatta may not be open on cup wekend but will depend ultimately on how much rain they get as to how many tracks the dozer will cover this week. I don't believe you will have too many problems on the main route into the Gatta via the East Buffalo road, East Rilely road & the Wonnangatta track. This route from Myrtleford to the old homestead site should take you around 3 hours.
Following the huge winds we've had up in the high country during the winter closures, I'd suggest you carry a big chainsaw with heaps of fuel. Firewood should not be a problem this year ;-)))
Tracks that may still be an issue in the area are Razor track, Penny track, East West divide track, Twins Jeep track & Dinner plain track. Our local 4x4 club will be heading up on the 5th & 6th of Nov to assist 'Parks' clear these & others that may not get done by the long weekend.
Cheers Craig........

Hi Ian
can't help you with travel times, but was up in the Mt Hotham, Harrietteville, Bright & the south of Mt Buffallo areas the w'end before last.
The track from hotham down to Harrietteville is closed untill 27 Oct according to the doc on the gate.
Have to whole heartedly agree with Crackles about the need for a large chainsaw, mega trees down on all the high plains & surrounding districts, so some of the tracks were/are obstical courses, calling often for the need of chains & chainsaws.
Also plenty of water flowing in all the streams, creeks & rivers, so take your waders.
But it's spring & beautiful up the right now, oh so green & lush.

Enjoy
