Phil,
I just came back from Cocklebiddy to
Adelaide last week. Theres a heap of good roadside
camping spots all the way. We've used a few between
Ceduna and Nullabor in the past, and you can get comfortably away from the highway and have a campfire. Haven't been west of Cocklebiddy for a while. All the servos have
camping facilities and showers. And the food at these
places has improved two thousand percent over the years.
Ceduna (Shell),
Penong (
Caltex) and
Nundroo (SAFF) all have diesel at City prices - $1.32 cpl last week.
Mundrabilla (SAFF) is the only other place before
Norseman that sells diesel at reasonable prices. I think you'll find all the other
places across the Nullabor are quite expensive - like above $1.60cpl.

We drove over for the AFL Grand Final
Diesel is not an issue - every few hundred kms
Personally I dont see price as an issue eg if you pay higher prices for 1000kms and averaged 12 l per 100 kms it will only cost an extra $36
Plenty of
good camp areas - many
places you can have a shower for several dollars.

Try typing Nullabor into the search box and you'll get good recent info

When we went through 12 months agon
Mundrabilla was 30 cents cheaper than the next cheapest place for diesel between
Norseman and
Ceduna. At
Norseman don't fill up on the highway at the BP travel stop. Turn left and head towards
Norseman and fill up at the
Caltex which is less than a kilometre from where you turn, and its on the road that you turn into when you make the left.
Free camping all over the place and always able to find a place. Some have
toilets, tables and tanked
water [not drinkable unless your Burke and Wills], some just have a quiet spot thats yours for the night.
Its easy to find one.
Moneypit.

Hi
Just be a little wary of
Mundrabilla as when I came through two months ago they had no diesel! they had ran out and the truck was not expected till late that evening ( and this was 11.00 am.) There were people everywhere, stuck waiting for fuel. I was lucky as I had two jerrycans of fuel to get me to next servo and had to pay $1.69 a ltr. They are generally 30c. a litre cheaper than the others so sell out pretty quick!

Travelled across from
Norseman to
Adelaide last week. Munderabilla had diesel when I came thru but later in the day I heard truckies saying it was out- probably because it is so cheap. All others had fuel tho at varying prices. Free camps are dotted all along the road. I stayed at one about 80ks west of Munderabilla. It pays to pick up some firewood before you get to a
camping spot as it is pretty scarce for a fair way around them. Nights are very cold at present so the fire isn't a luxury. Try to avoid travelling around dawn or dusk as it really is a roo graveyard. It is very green and lush at present and whales were very close in at
head of bight lookout but be prepared to pay for the privilege to have a look. It is just east of
Nullarbor roadhouse on
Yalata land.
