Hi, I’ve just installed a new 70 amp Delcor(before I found out about AGMs) under the bonnet through a Redarc isolator. When we
camp I also have a 100 amp Delcor sitting on the back floor of the twin cab which I connect to the 70 through 6mm twin.
At home I charge the Delcors with a 15amp 3 stage smart charger and if we
camp in one place for a while I run the charger off my inverter genie but on most trips the trucks alternator does the charging.
I think the 100 could be on its last legs and I like the sound of the AGMs.
My question is could I replace the 100amp Delcor with a AGM and connect it to the 70 Delcor like I have been doing or would they not be compatible?
Regards,
Keith

Keith,
In short, YES. The AGM battery will operate without any hassles, even when coupled via an Isolator to a wet cell battery.
The AGM battery will give you the best (and safest) option if you are putting it on the back floor of the twin cab.
I assume from your post that you are also charging this battery off the alternator when you are travelling?
The AGM will give you the fastest charge from a discharged state.
The AGM will NOT emit hydrochloric gases. (explosive and corrosive)
The AGM will NOT spill its contents if tipped over.
Mate, it's the ONLY sort of battery for use inside a vehicle.

Ah, technical correction on hydrochloric gas emission as mentioned above.
Charging conventional lead acid batteries generates hydrogen and oxygen gasses, which are explosive. The sulfuric acid electrolyte inside is highly corrosive.
So, the AGM will NOT emit hydrogen or oxygen gases. (explosive)
