I went for a couple of hours.
It is always useful to talk to the smaller producers of CTs to see what innovation they are coming up with, but everything else was a waste of time.
Discounts? Bah, humbug!

I went to the one in
Adelaide the other week, thought it was average. They had a 4x4 course there and the city slickers putting around in low range in different makes of 4x4s,they were having a ball. No joke could have driven my wifes Magna around the course if it had a little more clearance! Did see an off road camper made in South Africa that was interesting and quick to assemble. I think it was called a Supra. Any one know anything about them?

Dont forget guys,
This is a "specialised" market. We (the buyers) are the ones who decided to get involved in 4wding. So They (the sellers) know that we need equipment to do what we do. Naturally it depends on how serious you get but principal is same across the board.
The days of true lower prices at shows are gone. Competition is fierce out there between them so they will do what they can to sell a product, most times its dearer at shows because not many buyers did their homework on prices. The odd few that know, eventually get a good deal but not before haggling them.
Personally I only go to 1 show a year and thats the biggest one in town. Only reason for that is to see whats new and what works. Then, if it is possible, I go home and design my own, get some ideas type of thing.
Its sad to see the old days are
well and truly gone. They made it all worth while going to the show and spending your money knowing you saved heaps.

Don't agree with you Coke.
I have bought a good deal of my gear from these shows and have definitely saved heaps of money on the normal retail price.
The trick is to know what the market price is before you go. Then you know if you are indeed getting that "show" special and are in a better position to haggle.
On average, I have noticed a discount of about 10% is normally applicable. If it's not, then I don't buy.

I still go to the shows just to see the new products on offer so for that reason I enjoy.
Some of the inovations are great.
As said City slickers driving around a pretty tame track.
Most of these drivers know that the track is fairly tame but remember these people are advocates for the right way to 4wd as
well as pushing 4wd clubs.
Some of these drivers are very experienced 4wd people.
Yes prices do vary a lot but you do NOT have to buy.
