Hi All
I have a mate coming down from Queensland and wanted to show him some of the high country. Trouble is only have a day to do it. We live in berwick so I thought it might be possible to do a track from
Dargo to
Licola taking in the Wonangatta valley. Another possibility is up around Mt Stirling through
Mansfield.
It will be a long day but should these be do-able?
Any other suggestions?

Could you do Berwick -
Dargo - Wonangatta in a day and home in a day? 24hours maybe depending on conditions. Wouldnt like it to be me. On the weekend we did Langy -
Dargo -
Talbotville (5pm arrive camp1), Wonangatta (2pm arrive - 1/2 day drive camp2), Heyfield (via
Licola, 3pm arrive camp3), then home next day. this was all fairly easy going and photo takin + seeing sights...
You can do in a day
Mansfield, - Sheepyard Flat, up and see a few huts round the high country, but your talkin a very long day heading home after that. If you can start in Sheepyard Flat in the AM, you can get the huts of high country maps, and you could do some of them and home, or if your keen for another 24 hr straight drive, you could do them all in 1 day, but would see some in the dark. But that wouldnt allow much time to see things, and safety would be left at home.
We have done several day trips up to
Mansfield-Jamieson-Mt Skene and Return (Im only 20mins from berwick), but not much really to see if theres no snow...
IMWO, probably not worth attempting in 1 day.

Gaz, I just did
Geelong-High Country-
Geelong in a day and have the track printed on a jpg, if you like to see where, went around Mt Stirling/Lake Cobbler/Kng River and Craigs Hut, left
Geelong at 0600 and back home at 2130 so its doable, pretty relaxed day too, have done it twice. If you want to see where we went email me, mines behind my number plate pic.

Gazza about what date did you come down gun shot.
We spent about 2 hours refashioning
the entrance into gunshot and it was a lot different to your picture.
Last year a 4wd tried to come down on the left of you and rolled it they must have had it on film and it was sent into one of those funniest home vidieo shows saw it a few weeks back.
All the best
Eric

Eric
it was Friday 23/9. We chose the far left drop as you stand on the approach side and look at the
creek. All the others looked way to scary. have some more shots here
trip shots
from our trip. still getting around to finishing off the report.
Cheers

Hi GazzaS,
Rather than having too big a day why not head up through
Walhalla which is a great little historical town and close enough to Berwick. Some of the four wheel driving just north of there is absolutely brilliant.Spend the ten bucks for rooftops
Walhalla-
Woods Point adventure map and after morning tea in
Walhalla head north through Fords crossing.Make your way towards White Star track,McGuire Track,O'Keefe Track,Sullivans Track,Donnelly
Creek Track and later don't forget Pluto Track. The area is sensational with many river crossings.Give Spud Spur Track a miss unless you have lockers as the last 40 metres at the top is really steep and tough. After exploring this area and the many brilliant
camping areas you will be in
Woods Point for a beer before heading home .The country in there is amazing and will leave any Queensland visitor suitably impressed.
Cheers Mark
