Im interested in fitting a storage system to my GU patrol.
However due to having 4 kids and therefore needing one of the rear seats I only want it on one half.
I have been to a couple of 4WD shops to no avail.
Can anyone suggest someone who may make something like this in WA.
Thanks
Evan

G,day
Not in WA but in SA. Here is the WEB reference Australian 4WD Storage. I don't use their product.
They may be able to modify their system to satisfy your needs.
Regards
Paul

It is a little disconcerting that you intent to carry a child in the rear of a 4WD along with other equipment. I assume you don't have a cargo barrier as carrying passengers behind a cargo barrier is illegal in some states.
Beside that I certainlly wouldn't want to ride in the cramped rear of a Patrol also fitted with a storage system.

Leroy,
I'm not sure how useful the little hammer would be to a child in an emergency trying to exit the rear of a 4WD through a window!
In addition there is or should also be a black and
orange placard attached to my Milford Cargo Barrier that basically says
"death or serious injury may occur to passengers sitting behind the cargo barrier in the event of an accident"
"If passengers are to be carried the Cargo Barrier should be removed"
or word to that effect. I'm sort of assuming it would be some sort of ADR or legal thingo...

well where to put child number 4 then , on the roof rack maybe.
the only equipment i intent to carry in the back is a fridge and a few small soft bags. everything else goes on the roof rack or in the camper trailer. And because i have 4 kids i dont have a cargo barrier.
However a storage system would make it easier and safer for the boy in the back and after all they come with seats in the rear so i guess im going to use them.
all im after is some idea of whether it is possible or practicle

These guys Offroad Systems will do it for you if you only want half the rear done. They're OK, but they're also in
Sydney. Talk to Graeme.

As per what Chrispy mention - Offroad Systems.
Yes they are in NSW, but Graeme made up a slightly customized storage system for me and shipped it across to
Perth. No dramas or problems at all.

I should have also mentioned that they do have an agent in WA at 61 McCoy Street Myaree
Perth WA 6154 Phone (08) 9317 2344
Off Road Equipment.
I built THIS system myself for around $250.

I had the same dilemma in 2000 when i bought my GU as I have a son from my previous marriage as
well as my other 3 boys that Annette and I have since had. So, I got Dept of The Interior (in
Sydney) to sell me a half draw system. Cost me about $750 at that time. I was able to fit one of the dicky seats in and carry recovery gear and
tools in the drawer. I bolted the fridge slide to the top of the drawer and it worked okay for a while.
However, it practical terms it was hardly ever used as designed and I've since built a VERY agricultural plywood contraption with the single drawer still an important part. I now have the all-important cargo barrier in.
Dept of Interior will ship to WA as far as I know....but check with them. I have no affiliation with them.
Cheers
Roachie
