Morning all,
Just a quickie for the NSW'ers.
I am taking the family up to
Barrington Tops this weekend, and I am just looking for a
good campsite. I know there are heaps, and I have stayed at Polube before, but just looking for others input.
I seem to remember there was one north of the main road, east of Polube. It was about 5km of the main track, and crossed a river to get there.
Can anyone help me out? We are fully self sufficient, so no facilities are necessary (although a nice
toilet is good - saves gettin out the chemical one for the missus...)
Cheers,
Chump

Hi Chump_Boy,
Try Ferndale,hot and cold running
water, tiolets..cheap and it's at the doorstep of the
Barrington Tops do a search on the net you should find it. I think a lot of the tracks are shut thought due to idiots ripping them up..but a phone call to
park and wildlife would answer that...also theres swiming there for the kids.My thumbnail pic is in the tops above Ferndale.

You could try the eastern side of Barrington.
Go thru Dungog and head towards Main
Creek Road onto Skimmings
Creek Road then follow posted signs to:-
Telleghary
Park
Frying Pan
Creek Park
Coachwood
Park
Currawong
Park
All
camping grounds within cooee of each other all free, some pit loos some take a nature walk.
This is
State Forest area and plenty of tracks and
trails to explore.
Much nicer than the National
Park area IMO
Happy
camping

Stay away form Frying Pan
Creek, it's the only
camping area in the forest that allows motor bikes.
Guess what happens when you get a group of 20
young guys with bikes, they party all night long, we camped there 2 weeks ago, the music was so loud and was finally turned off at about 4am.
Coachwood is just across a
creek from Frying Pan
Creek so would not be much better.
The
Ranger called in the next morning and had a go at these guys, he then came over and saw us and advised next time we camped in Chitchester
Forrest to go to Telleghary
Park or Currawong
Park, said anytime you get guys with bikes in which is most of the time you get problems.
Telleghary
Park is a smaller
camping area then Frying Pan
Creek and Coachwood and somehow seems nicer, also runs along the
creek.
Currawong
Park you can only get in with a 4wd and I don't know what the
camping area is like.
My 2 cents worth
