The Starting point of this track Is North east of Kalgoorlie along the
Coolgardie north Road about 25k past
Rowles Lagoon. The track heads off to the West and meanders in A South Westerly Direction. Much of the country is Unburnt with immpressive stands of salmon Gums Gimlets and Grifths gumms with a few blackbutts as
well. As it heads down it passes
Granite outcrops such as Coonmine
rock, Turtadine
rock Pilaming
rock as wellas turnoffs to other rocks with there associated historic wells and
Gnamma holes. Alot of the Bushes were flowering with hakeas, Myrtels and Kunzeas adding some colour. The track then passes into yellow sandplains which for some reason are nearly allways burnt out - this is no exception. After crossing the haul road to the Mt Walton radioactive waste dump it passes back into typical Goldfields Woodland . Here I took a few detours checking out the Watt Hills with there rocky rutted Iron peaks before taking an Ultra Scratchy track to Ive
rock and Wallengine soak (If only I could have found the easy way) before passing through Jaurdi Station with its brilliant
woodlands and breakaway areas and came out on the Goldfields highway about 100k East of
Southern cross - Good way to spend some of My week off
