I was in the RAA the other day and say this package. Only $41 and it has electronic maps of Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Wollongong. You can read off Lat/Long or Grid.

BUT. The maps are in some weird format called .CMP Has anyone seen this before? It would be nice to work out a way of importing the maps into OziExplorer.

You can export them a screen at a time and they can be referenced and work quite well, but that would take a long time for Sydney :-)

Thanks

Pete

They are map files which are acceptable to OziExplorer. Just copy them into your OziExplorer Map Directory. Cheers.

It would be nice but it's not possible Pete, the maps are in a special format. All that can be done is screen captures and stiching.

I don't know what version of UBD Street Maps you are talking about but I have the 2005 version which has the .map conversion as part of the package which works well with OziEplorer. Cheers

Topcat - do you have UBD or Streetsmart? I had a look at the UBD website and there is no mention of the "conversion" you speak of and in fact there is no 2005 edition mentioned either? I know Streetsmart maps can be imported into Ozi...is this what you are talking about?
Cheers

Yeh. Correction mate. Mine is a Streetsmart Version. But I do believe there is a Geotiff version out there. I think I saw it for sale on E-Bay a few months ago. Cheers

Hi greg,

Any idea what website I can find Streetsmart software on and pricing etc. My other half would love to be able to find her way around the city.

It is Version 2.1 which installs as "UBD on Disk 2005" and contains 2005 maps. Not a bad toy and I have already found it useful in Adelaide and Brisbane. Would have beennice to link it up to Ozi, but it was cheap and I'm having fun with it anyway!

Cheers

No worries - I have seen quite a few posts on the OziExplorer forum enquiring about the compatability of UBD maps but as far as I know no one has come up with a way of converting them into a format that is useable (or gone to the trouble of doing screen captures and recalibrating "on mass"). UBD could no doubt do it if they wanted - I wonder what they have to say?. Some of the other commercially available streetmaps of the cities that can be used with OziExplorer are a bit expensive which lowers their appeal.
Cheers
