For our first trip in our first caravan we went to the Blue Mountains. Not impressed with the place (other than the scenery).
Katoomba Falls C'pk very ordinary with not too clean
toilets, nothing to dry hands on, and $15.40 pp per night. if you want diesel don't expect to find it at
Katoomba. One garage didn't have a diesel pump the other was broken down , or didn't have any (most days it didn't have petrol either).
Toilet at Kmart was dirtier than the long drop at
Keepit Dam. The Tourist operators we saw were not very tolerant of tourists who had a limited knowledge of english. If your looking for souveners you won't find them in town, you have to go to scenic world. If you want the most expensive stubbie holder in NSW this is the place to go. $11.30. We were told it can get quite cool in Summer months, but Kmart did not have one Jacket for sale. Overall I could only give the place 5/10 and thats probable being generous. Have travelled around a bit and this is the first time I have had to have a whinge like this.
Happy days!

As a local all I can say is "I agree".
But our Council have just spent $Mils on the Echo Point area in landscaping but no litter cleanup. The National Parks are also just as bad with weeds & Blackberries growing wild.
Good to see someone give some stick. I have tried contacting the Council to be told they do not have the money to do cleanup.

Boo,
I'd sell the Caravan and stay home.
If you had washed your hands and they were then clean, why not just dry them on your pants. MATE, you just have to compromise sometimes.

Go the Bells Line of Road to
Lithgow it's just as scenic, more in some
places and less traffic too, it also has a greater variaty of
places to
camp,
Lake Lyell for one, Mt
Wilson another.
Just don't go to Bungleboori on the Newnes Plateau to
camp i mean.
Also close to
Newnes Hotel, Jenolan,
Oberon and
Capertee.

I would like them to build a tunnel under the Blue Mountains so that I never have to visit the area again .
The varying speed limits , the traffic jams ,the cops with their radar , the tree hugging vegetarians with home knits , freezing in the winter , boiling in summer, bus loads of bored tourists YUK YUK YUK

Willie,
You absolutely nailed it
"The varying speed limits".
It's absolutely bloody ridiculous. Stick to Bells Line of Road now. Bugger the Great Western and their attempts at revenue raising.

Used to go holidaying in the mountains regularly as a kid. I had such great memories of the joint.
We went up thru there 5 yrs ago on our honeymoon. The hippys have turned
Katoomba into a real
toilet.. we were to spend 4 days based there we spent 1.
The only decent thing there is the hat
shop!

"hippys"
You're too kind Truckster. Ferals is a more approriate description. I think most of them got kicked out of
Nimbin as they were just a tad too extreme :))))

Well done Steve, You've got overseas tourists spending a lot of money coming to our great country and giving us their opinion, be it good or bad, in this case it was bad AND backed up by a local, and instead of making them feel welcome you come up with that tripe!
If you've ever done any travelling you would know that not every where in this wonderful country is perfect, and it's refreshing to hear
views from 'outside' visitors.
Boo,
Unfortunately you will find other
places similar to what you encountered at
Katoomba whilst travelling this beautiful land, you will find that they are the high tourist populated areas, hence the reason why most of us 'locals' head for the most remote corners in our travells, as it is in a lot of these
places where you will find the true beauty of Australia.
Keep us updated and happy travelling.
