There has been a number of posts on these recently and it has made me think. I was planning to set up in the back
seat a DVD player to keep the kids entertained, and use a laptop for oziexplorer in the front. The question of where to put it has also raised its head as
well.
My great idea is now to build a shelf on the floor in the back
seat, mount the laptop to this, and use it as a DVD player for the kids. Then use a Lilliput screen in the front to run oxiexplorer.
This will only work if the lilliput screen can be set to run as a seperate screen and not just showing the same content as the Laptop. The OS on my laptop allows for a second screen as
well as TV output.
With a lilliput screen do you get the option of configuring it as a seperate monitor is does it purely echo the laptop screen.

You can only run it as an extension monitor. The laptop only allows one login at a time (with Windows, Linux could do what you want :-)). To run a second program from a second screen would require a seperate login.
The external connection is designed to run a projector or large screen for conference type use, displaying the same as the Laptop's monitor.

Would only work if the laptop supports "Dualview"?? me thinks?
I admit I never knew about this solution but it still looks hardware dependant.
Would still go for a seperate player myself. Sounds too complicated to be using on the move.....

It's fairly simple and works
well with my basic lappy. I use in the study with one monitor constantly displaying the BOM radar.

Hmmm. When I get a bit of time I'll have a fiddle with one of the works Laptops and see how I go. Could be handy....

IMHO you would be better off with a dedicated DVD player for the kids and your laptop in the front to run OziExplorer, etc.
One wrong click from the back
seat and you may lose your tracking ability.
Not a good recipe for karma Mate.

I think it should work, I have my office PC like that, but I have 2 video cards, the Lilliput use a USB connection if I am right and if you have windows XP you might just be okay

I think i solved the problem i went to the HArvey Norman Mega MArt clearance sale and got a portable player with 2 screens , game pad, remote and other stuff for less than $400 so i can now keep the laptop to myself.

you can do 2 separate screens with most video cards.
Get the touchscreen lilliput so you can still control ozi and have that fullscreen on screen #2. run the dvd fullscreen on screen#1 and they cont know. To set it up, in control panel look through your display settings tabs and you'll see it.
