Kimberley campers

It may be that the owners did their big trip and decided that the outdoors was'nt really for them or upgraded to a van for more comfort. A fair investment to have just sitting in the shed/carport/garage if you're not using it regularly.

It's good news though for those who don't mind buying secondhand.

Well we love our new Kimberley Kamper Limited Edition and after our 2 week shake down with it, we found it very easy to use and very Kamper friendly.

It also could be that Kimberley kampers are a popular seller in the new market and as such there will be more available percentage wise in the second hand market. Ours is chassis number 3855 and when we were at the KK factory in Ballina picking up our new one, we noticed a new one on the showroom floor had a chassis number of 4267...that's a lot of Kampers for what surely is a product at the high end of the market in terms of price tag.

Before we ordered our new one we looked at secondhand and there was always around 8 times as many KK's available as there were Aussie Swag and Campomatic's combined. So if you don't mind secondhand, then consider it a blessing for the buyer as they are built to last that's for sure.

We bought new as we really wanted the gull wing storage box and the 3 burner stove.....and we just love everything about our KK.

All the campers in the trader section are the old style the new models have a large gull wing box with more storage than the classic style. I have just bought a KK and the rep said there has been alot of intrest from previous customers in the new style. 4 of the trader ad's KK are from Camper trailers WA the local agent for KK .

hi all, i have a van but want to down grade to a c/t as it is more like camping to me but the other half wants to keep the comfort of the van. only hope i have is to hire one to let her see they (c/ts) are just as good and you get more room. it is good to read all the pro's and cons on the differant brands and there isn't much bad info on themall as a hole.

you will find most owners such as us who have kk ( ours is a 2003 classic marina )would buy another if we were buying again.- just a tougher better made camper than the opposition in our opinion and we looked very carefully at the aussie swag and the campomatic before buying our kk

we tow ours with a 3.0 l Td patrol and have poly airs fitted to the rear springs which are needed - a bit more power under the bonnet would be nice but the 3.0 l td patrol does the job ok - but it struggles a bit off road in the harder places

there are never all that many good and well looked after later model kk's for sale on the second hand market so if there are a few about at the moment - grab one

Iwas suprised to hear that thetre are so many K.Kampers on the used market as a short while ago they were pretty hard to find.All I can say that it is good news for those wanting to buy second hand as although I don't own a camper I have been looking at them for a while and the K.K. would be my choice at the moment.I sdtill don't fancy towing anything but the old bones might give in next year and it will be A k.k. for me.

I'n not in the market for one (we own a 12 month old Campomatic - great) but we see them in the traders and papers for sale and the sellers want damn near new prices for them ! As mentioned, with new ones, you can spec them up as you require and you get the warranty too - a used one needs to represent a good saving on new prices therefore IMO. Re the KK as a product - after owning the Campomatic we know a thing or two about campers and would reckon the KK is a great product - we chose ours because the KK is quite heavy on the hitch - our tow vehicle is much happier with the lighter Campomatic front end (but comparable with the KK in all other respects).

We had a KK for 2 years and a lot of tracks, including the Gibb RR, Bungles, Chambers Pillar, Donohue/Plenty, Palm Valley, Vic high country and many more. I would not hesitate in recommending a KK to anyone. Ours performed faultlessly and was a joy to use. We sold it because it had taken us to the really difficut place we are likely to go and being on the older, less fit side of 50 decided to buy a coromal Silhouette. If we were doing more of the really out of the way places, I would have another KK tomorrow.

The KK is a great trailer but the newer models are far too heavy in my opinion. Anything over 800kg dry is far too heavy for any real off-road situations. The newer models all weigh over 1000Kg dry and loaded tend to run to 1500kg or more!!!!!!

Unless they are used a fair bit it's a lot of money to have just sitting out the back/in the shed. Could be a reason for selling - would be cheaper to hire something on the odd occasion.

We have just purchased a second hand (6 months old) 2005 Limited Edition Kamper. Our experience was that they are very hard to find second hand and not too far off new price (good for re-sale, and an important argument in convincing the boss to part with the money!!). I note that the 4 unsold campers in the trader section are from one dealer and that the three privately listed ones have been sold. Our experience was that, having decided that you want the KK, move pretty quickly when you see one that fits the bill.

A big part pf Kimberley's sales pitch is the excellent re-sale value and this probably encourages a lot of people who want to get a quality CT for the 'big' trip and then sell it once they are done.
