I'm wondering if it is worthwhile sending my 4.2TD GU off to a diesel expert to have it tuned to it's peak performance? Does anybody have experience of this?
I bought it new 4 months ago, and have travelled 15,000kms through a mixture of terrain ranging from the extremes of the Simpson, various outback desert tracks and Fraser Island through to everyday highway and city driving. Broadly speaking, I'm delighted with it.
But it's been sugested that having it tuned is a good investment to increase performance generally. Any thoughts or experience welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Piers , it would be money
well spent ,all our 4.2 Diesels have had the injector break pressures bumped & evened up, and the fuel pumps timed up, better peformance & economy will be achieved. Injectors should last around 100,000 ks ,we have also found the 4.2 takes along time to loosen up 78000ks was the last motors effort.
Cheers Steve

have a 92 td4.2 naturally aspired, supercharged it at 220000ks now 25000ks, have never had the pump touched or the injectors, still getting about 13l/iooks, no black smoke, even when cold, still revs out to over 4000 revs. Secret, chnge all filters at service, including fuel filter, do
mine every 5000ks, cheaper than going to church. Once in a blue moon will throw some fuel treatment in to stop any algie growing in the fuel, i use moreys, i think its aussy made. Col
