Is the whole system stainless or just the bends?

What did MTQ charge you for upping the boost. I have had the Motson 40% upgrade done to my 4.2l Patrol and the difference is outstanding however on the endless search for more power if MTQ will up the boost a little over standard and it doesn't cost the earth the I am all for it. ( Motsons won't).

Hi Goona,

From memory he charged me $150 to up the boost, set the fuel and make a couple of small mods to the exhaust tail pipe. Though with the 40% increase I think that's all accounted for in the turbo upgrade. I think they basically take it to the limit with EGT and then unless you can cool these then that's the limit.

Not that I can afford to do it , but out of interest, has the larger turbo made any difference to the power?

Yes mate, there was a reasonable increase in power although this is only "seat of the pants" feel, as I haven't had it back on a dyno since then. They also cranked the boost up to max of 15psi.

I've noticed throughout the Forum that a few members are experts on every subject. such as the use of generators, fridges, tents, tracks etc
Most of the comments about problems with specific vehicles (regardless of make/model seem to come from people who don't actually own one of the vehicles for which comments have been solicited but feel they need to make their presence known on every subject..
I don't own a Toyota and therefore don't feel qualified to comment on them.
If the Nissan 4.2 is underpowered then that's my problem. Can't see what purpose Trucksters comment served.
As far as I'm concerned I'm happy with the power of the vehicle, the build quality etc.
A lot of people ask genuine questions because they're looking for advice not some stupid comments

That sounds like a fair cop to me and you have thought about your position, unlike some who simply react and escalate the problem.

Forgot to ask if there is much of an increase in noise????

Mine sounds "different", but I wouldn't say "louder".

The new turbo is different though.....you can here it whine at various times....sounds really kooool.

Can hear little more turbo whine when on the gas with windows down but nothing antisocial
