Hi all - want to keep the tyres/wheels ON the fourby and camper trailer. Are all lock nuts the same? Best place to purchase?
Any suggestions on where to purchase second hand off road tyres for the camper in
Melbourne. Have tried ebay, Trading Post, Exploroz & Melbournes Cheapest tyres in Dandenong. Looking for 285/75 x 16, 3 of.
Thanks in advance.
cheers
Mike

Neeta,
I'm not sure what you mean by "locknuts" but I'll have a go anyway.
If you are worried about the wheelnuts coming loose, then provided they are tightened sufficiently, they are designed to remain tight due to friction.
If you are worried about someone pinching your wheels, then locking wheelnuts are available from almost all tyre dealers and
places like Supercheap, Repco, etc.

And even then if they really want the rims a hammer and deep socket one good hit and the car will be on bricks in no time.

NO, all wheel nuts are NOT the same. Mag wheel nuts are different to steel rim nuts and are not interchangeable. Also the length of thread inside the domed wheel nut can be to long for a low dome nut. Go to a wreckers, they will prob have a bucket full for you to search through, maybe a few dollars for a set.

They can also have different diameters and thread pitches
