Hi
I have found several references to this track but cannot find an answer to my specific question - is prior permission required (and if so from whom) to travel the track from 'Lake Everard' (the station) westwards to Googs Lake via Childara Rockhole?

Thanks for any knowledgeable answers

George

G'day George. Having previously worked at Lake Everard i know the track out to Childara Rockhole. This is a private station road as far as i know. However I am sure if you called the station prior to your trip they would have no hesitation in letting you thru. However i just found this which reads to the contrary. I am sure if u are nice they would let you as we used to let people thru as long as gates etc were shut.

Lake Everard Station is closed to the public.

You could ring the station to find out if permission could be granted for transit through but normally, if you wanted to access Childara Rockholes, you have to do so from Googs Track itself.

Its actually on the western side of the dog fence and hugs the fence all the way up. We used it to get to Kingoonya and also Lake everard when i felt like a change of scenery. And yes it does meet up with the other track but its public road west of the fence i thought? I have seen some big ugly dogs along that fence too lol. Chat has slowed a bit since muddys new interest lol. I pop in most nights but i think its a case of fluking someone online. And yes its a thirsty cartoon mate....too good for me.

Did it a couple of years ago when I led a trip with a group from our 4WD club. What you need to do is ring the Ranger in Ceduna, work out your access passes for Googs track etc and ask him/her for the name and number for the Everard Station manager. If you speak nicely with him and convince him that you are a responsible person/group then you should be OK. They will respond in writing to confirm either way. It's well worth the effort.
Cheers

If you could get access to Lake Everard Station, how long would it take to travel from Lake Everard Station to Childara Rockhole, and then from Childara Rockhole to where it meets Googs at Googs Lake?

The track out from Childara to Googs Lake is marked on the Hema Map as approximate position only. Any idea what the track is like?

We are considering going out that way if we can get access in March.
