I have often wondered why some Forumites leave the words "Member - " in front of their Screen Name. Also many members dont put vehicle descriptions in. And many of us dont use the Photo Gallery. Would make for a more interesting site if we used more of the features available

I guess I never thought about it and just ran with the default....have now deleted "Member..." from my Screen name. Not sure if that is an earth bleep tering thing or not???

Well maybe some don’t want to disclose their info on pictures, like rego # etc through fear of being stolen.
And as for vehicle descriptions this could be because sometimes it looks like a game of, he with the most toys wins.
Cause, there’s the can’t be #$%^&d factor, just my 2cents worth :-)

Could be correct re rego - do you cover it up when you drive around - cannot see why it could get stolen by showing the number - but you could always blank it out in the picture
Re the vehicle descriptions - if I am looking for advice, I would like to know what others have done similar to mine.

I would have thought that the rego blocking on pics was for not allowing people to see who/where drivers have been.

I think Members should keep "Member" in front of their screen name . I am always interested to know who supports the site .
And if I see an interesting post , I often wonder about the person posting and click on their details .
More info the better, I reckon .

I wonder why a person nominating himself as a Trekkie would ever want a 4by. I reckon if I showed my other interests as my rig pic or screen name there would be dis-interest. I actually put "Member" in front, I didn't leave it in front. I actually included Moses when another guy in Victoria named himself John R.

Hi Trekkie.......
I left the "Member" thing there as when I joined it seemed everyone who was a member had member in front of their name to show they were a member as opposed to those who weren't a member NOT having member in front of their name.
Makes perfect sense really doesn't it??
;-)

I read your list as well, how long did it take to alphabeticalize everything?? Well done! (NTTP!)

I haven't too many pics on my page, 'cos I'm too lazy to re-size them for inclusion on the site. That's my reason...... our club web page will do it automatically if it's required but this one, AFAIK, doesn't.

And so what if you're a trekkie with a 4by!!!!! As long as youy're enjoying it! Good on ya!

Auto pic download and resize should be installed in the next two weeks so this will make that job a lot easier. I am waiting on our new server to be commissioned 13/2 as this will alow me to build the program that will do this job for us.

I don't know what having (or not having) "Member" in front of your name does to make the Forum more "interesting". It's not something I have ever taken any notice of, to be honest. My "Member" came up automatically (...do I need to re-word that???).

But being a member, for me, means I am assisting Dave and the Exploroz team in maintaining what I consider to be the best site of this type on the Internet. The help I have had since I joined has saved me many times more than the membership fee. I am happy to support them. Others are entitled to their own views, and I am fine with that, too.

What (to me) makes this Forum interesting is the wide variety of views, the unqualified assistance you receive when you ask for help and advice, and the experiences of others. And, of course, when things start to get out of hand, the simple, sobering one-liners that Truckster throws in.

I have a stock standard 80 Series Landcruiser with a steel roof rack and a few "odds and ends" fitted, and don't think I need to waste bandwidth with it.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Spot on Jack, I'm a great believer in "user pays".... not sure what we spend on Video hire per year but a lot more than I pay to be a member here. More entertaiment and many more laughs than the telly.
Not to mention the money I safe by picking somebody elses brain.
Best group on the net and well worth the membershop fee.
And you can spell whichever way you like in here :-))
cheers and a good weekend to all.

Maybe you need "Advertiser - " in front of your name.

I've often thought a 'click on bio' button would make things more interesting. Viewing voluntary info such as your real name, occupation etc

Can you imagine Trucksters

Hi my name is Bruce.....

:-)))))))))))

How could you not be a Trekkie.

One word (and 2 numbers)

7 of 9.

or Seven as I like to call her.

Here's her bio:

DELTA QUADRANT UPDATE BIO-FILE: Seven of Nine
Species: Human (assimilated by Borg as a child but severed as an adult, retaining portion of cybernetic implants)
Full Name at Birth: Annika Hansen
Parents: Magnus & Erin Hansen (both assimilated by Borg ca. 2356); only known surviving relative is an aunt, Irene Hansen
Place of birth: Tendara Colony, SD 25479
Marital status: Single
Last recorded assignment: U.S.S. Voyager (no formal assignment or rank)
Current status: Returned to Alpha Quadrant with Voyager in 2378

She has assimilated me. Resistance was absolutely futile.

Trekkie,

Anyone who has a Rig/Profile & Msg at the bottom of their Posts and Replies, is a Member.

But visitors are not often aware of this.

I guess the prefix is therefore another method of identifying "claim of full membership" to ExplorOz.

I agree with you on the 'vehicle' rig pics and have tried to stick something diferent up but couldn't figure out how to seperate it from a bunch of other pics in one email and then get it from the email to here.
I tried the 'right click, copy' thing on that one pic but it wouldn't work.
If you or anyone can help it would be great.

Although not a member I do find it handy to look at member profiles & rig photo's to help sort out who has experience & credibility when posting, who has very little experience & is just staing an opinion, & who are the wankers.
Members should be proud to have it posted in front of their name & I wonder what people are so ashamed of when they remove it?
I personally aren't a member as for me I don't see enough benifits.(sorry Dave) I find it always cheaper to buy the advertised products elsewhere so not even the discounts interest me. I must say it is convienient though to buy books & maps through EO, very promt & able to track the sale at each stage of the purchase & I see this as more than enough support to justify use of the forum & other features.
What does get on my goat is people who don't sign off a post or respose with their first name. Makes me think of what they may be hiding & automatically I question their motives. Altenatively to filling out a long winded profile that looks like advertising credits on the side of a race car, it is handy when closing your post or response if you add any gear you may have. This way everyone can see what side of the fence you are sitting on :-)
For example if the post was on mounting fridges in 4bys (god forbid not again) I would sign off : Cheers Craig......HZJ105 Autofridge.

What was your name again Trekkie???? & please don't say it's Scott :-))

Cheers Craig........
